SYN913 is a virtual analog synthesizer plugin designed for bold, direct,
and musically useful sounds. It combines a straightforward architecture
with pulse and saw oscillators, variable width, simple filtering, noise,
downsampling, echo, soft clipping, and a musical master effects chain.
The interface is uncluttered, making sound design immediate whether you
are a beginner or an experienced synth user.
2. Quick Start
Load SYN913 in your DAW as an instrument (VST3/AU/etc.) and enable
MIDI input.
Play using your MIDI controller or the on-screen keyboard.
Adjust the eight main sliders (see Parameter Reference) to shape your
sound.
Set Master Vol for global output control.
Save your favorite sounds as DAW presets (patch management support may
be limited depending on integration).
3. Main Interface Overview
Main area: Eight sliders for instant control over timbre, envelope,
modulation, and FX mix.
Buttons: Certain models/devices may include quick FX switches for the
downsampler (Downgrade), etc.
Live oscilloscope ensures you can always see your waveform in real
time.
Meters: Visual feedback for output (digital meter, master level).
Menu and logo: Access “downgrade” (bit/mode changes), credits, and
visual extras.
4. Parameter Reference
The core sound is shaped by eight main parameters:
swsq (“s0”): Square/Saw mix — blends between pure
square and pure saw wave.
pw (“s1”): Pulse width — width (duty cycle) of the
square wave.
oct (“s2”): Octave — pitch range or transposition.
atk (“s3”): Envelope attack time.
dec (“s4”): Envelope decay time (with sustain at 75%
of decay).
cut (“s5”): Low-pass filter cutoff (log-scaled for
musicality).
res (“s6”): Filter resonance (Q).
spc (“s7”): Main FX mix (reverb and echo intensity).
dwn (“b1”): Downsampler/Downgrade amount (button or
slider).
master volume (“mv”): Output gain/master volume.
5. Patch Management
Patch management is primarily handled by your DAW’s preset system.
There is currently no built-in file save/load for patches; use your
host’s preset mechanism or project recall.
6. Visualizations
Embedded oscilloscope displays the outgoing audio waveform in real
time, aiding immediate sound design and troubleshooting.
Visual output meters give constant feedback on signal strength and
potential clipping.
7. Extra Features
Downsampler (Downgrade): Adds lo-fi aliasing and
digital grit. The amount and character can be varied with the “dwn”
parameter/button.
Echo: Simple tempo-synced echo with decay and mix
amount tied to main FX slider.
Reverb: Atmospheric tail also included in main FX
mix.
Soft Clip: Output is automatically soft clipped to
prevent digital distortion.
Noise/Random: Micro-randomization and noise layers in
the voices to avoid static digital tones.
8. Troubleshooting & Tips
If the plugin is silent, check your MIDI routing or DAW track arming.
Adjust filter settings carefully: high resonance can boost levels
dramatically.
Try extreme settings for unique textures; the synth is stable and
rewards experimental use.
For even louder/cleaner output, increase Master Vol, but always watch
meters for excess gain.
